Kate Middleton may be a married to a prince, but she has to perfect her beauty routine just like everyone else (rumor has it she did her own makeup on her wedding day). So, what have we learned from this style icon? Plenty.

Keep it neutral
When it comes to eyeshadow, Middleton likes to keep things neutral. Her wardrobe tends to feature jewel tones, and she complements those bold colors with gold and skin-toned hues on her eyes. Add just a dash of blush and gloss that's close to the natural color of your lips.

Let your locks flow
Middleton's long, flowing locks are the envy of girls on both sides of the Atlantic – the Duchess rarely sports an updo. However, if having your hair in your face drives you crazy, pull it halfback rather than throwing it up in a ponytail.

Emphasize one feature
Middleton's makeup is never overdone – she follows the golden rule of emphasizing your eyes or lips, but never both. For example, if you're feeling like using eyeliner on your upper and lower lids, opt for a neutral color on your pout.
