Hey BH readers! Rissrose2 here to share how I’m going to do my Thanksgiving makeup!

Since we are around family during the holidays, I tend to tone down all the flashy make up, but still try play with some color! My must-wear colors for the Thanksgiving holiday are plums, greens and of course copper & orange. I used the 120 Color Eyeshadow Palette 5th Edition since it’s the most neutral palette, but still has vibrant colors to really amp up the look.  This palette has a shimmer, almost metallic copper color which is what I placed on my lid, and a sparkly brown shadow onto my outer V.  Under my eyes, I applied a vibrant purple layered with a subtle plum just to enhance my eye shape, plus to add slight color!

The lips are kept simple with Office Queen (my favorite “go-to” lip gloss). To contour my face, I used Tahitian Tan and used the same copper eyeshadow on the apples of my cheeks for a glow!

When doing my makeup during the holidays, I think about the family pictures we’ll be taking. I like to look classic! I don’t want to look back years from now, and be like WhaaaAAAAA!?!?! For some reason I think of 80s weddings or 90s weddings.. they are so dated with the hair and makeup! But not this look – add a little shine and color without “dating” it!

During New York Fashion Week, women can learn a great deal about the hottest beauty trends. Designers create and execute makeup looks for models to strut down the runway and display the trends for everyone to see. Some of the beauty trends from last week’s fashion show are bright and daring, while others are more subdued. Here are four of the hottest beauty trends shown during last week’s fashion show.

Pink Eyeshadow: Pink eye shadow was one of the hottest beauty trends during New York Fashion Week. Models wore bright pink eye shadow on their eyelids and kept the rest of their makeup simple. If you want to try wearing pink eye shadow, avoid applying it to your bottom lash lines; doing so can make you appear sick. Also, avoid wearing pink blush and pink lipstick with this look; all the pink can look overpowering. Try the pink shades from our 120 Color Eyeshadow Palette 5th Edition! You will definitely find the right pink to work with.

Blue Eyeshadow: We saw blue eyeshadow at Kate Spade’s runway show and many more, which was a wonderful surprise! Blue eyeshadow usually has a bad rep, but we’re happy it’s coming back strong for next year. Try mixing dark and light blue eyeshadows, or create a smoky eye look with navy blue. Nail Art: Nail art is definitely all the rage right now. During New York Fashion Week, models strutted down the runway with all sorts of funky designs on their nails. Polka dots, graphic prints, geometric tips and flowers were just some of the nail designs featured at the show. These nail art designs can be worn on women of all ages and will look very trendy and cute.

Pin Straight Tresses: Pin straight tresses are definitely very in right now. Several models wore their hair very straight as they walked down the runway. Very straight hair can give you a very sleek and sophisticated look. If you naturally have pretty wavy hair, it might take 40 to 60 minutes to get your hair pin straight. After you have dried your hair with a blow dryer and round brush, separate your hair into four sections and begin straightening each 2-inch strand with your flat iron.

Don’t hesitate to try all four of these beauty trends out!

Blue Eyes: Try playing with light coral or peach tones for the 120 Color Eyeshadow Palette 5th Edition. The contrast will immediately make the blues in your eyes appear brighter. If you’re not up to sporting the warmer tones, try using a turquoise or royal blue to bring out the blues in your peepers.

Green or Hazel Eyes: Plum, purple or eggplant shades work best to bring out the green in your eyes. For those that don’t like purple hues, try using a forest or olive green to softly brighten your eyes. Try the colors from the 120 Color Eyeshadow Palette 3rd Edition!

Brown Eyes: Anything goes! Since the eye color is completely neutral, almost any colorful shade will look great. If you’re feeling daring, try using a bright yellow or bold blue for this season. I was in a huge rush on Saturday night as I was out all day, and then had to get ready for a last-minute event. I had 30 minutes to get ready before going out again, so there was no way I was going to wash my face and start over on a blank canvas. I wanted to create sultry eyes to match the warm nighttime atmosphere, so I simply worked with my daytime look to create these smoky eyes:

Like? Here are simple steps to achieve this look:

• First, re-enforce your medium tone by using the Blending Brush and a deeper, warm taupe satin/shimmer texture shadow over the entire lid and crease for a well blended base.
• Follow with a matte black shadow from the 120 Color Eyeshadow Palette 5th Edition (to bring more drama to the look you may use the matte black shade with golden flakes) and stipple it over the entire lid with the Contour Blending Brush. Begin by stippling from the lash line up toward the crease for a smooth build of color.
• Dip the Blending Brush into a cool matte brown shade and blend the black and taupe shades together.
• Apply an additional coat of mascara and a bright color to your lips, and you are out the door!
