MUA Monday – 60′s Inspired Lilac Eyeshadow

Pastel tones were very popular in 60′s beauty and are great colors to use during the Spring season. We’re seeing celebs like Rihanna, Leighton Meester, and Emily Blunt sporting pastel shades of lilac eyeshadow. Feeling mod-inspired, I created a look using lilac, lavender and hints of grey tones to make it appear “dusty.”  What do you think?

Tips to achieve:

I say this is 60′s inspired because I did not use any harsh lines and kept it soft. For more depth and intensity, contour with a grey satin shade from the outer corner, into the crease, and then directly above the crease on the inner half of the eye. You can almost blend the shadow up into your eyebrow for the dramatic deep set eyes that were so popular during that time period. For this look, you can use lilac, mint, or baby blue color schemes. Apply about 3-4 coats of black mascara for spiky lashes. Top the look off with some fresh nude gloss like the BH “Peace, Love and Mod.”

Hope you all love the look!

Cosmetics Color Trend of 2012

Pantone, the industry’s “authority on color,” predicts color trends each year and recently announced that the color trend of 2012 will be Tangerine Tango, which is a reddish orange color.

You’re probably thinking, “Orange makeup?” We say, “YES!” We’ve been seeing more cosmetics products that have a red/orange hue – nail polish, lip stick, eyeshadow, you name it! The team here at BH is a dedicated believer in Tangerine Tango as we are all supporters of bright and bold makeup.
