The ponytail is making a big comeback in 2013, but it isn't your mama's updo. In fact, many celebrities have been trying out a variety of unique ways to keep their hair out of their faces, and many of the styles leave room for stunning makeup trends as well, Glamour Magazine reports.

Fishtail
The fishtail hairstyle was all the rage in 2012 and continues to be popular in 2013. This style offers ladies a lovely way to accentuate their long locks and fresh faces.

Since the fishtail is meant to be a more laidback look, it may be best to rock similar makeup. Try enhancing your face by wearing modest warm-toned smokey eye makeup and a touch of light pink gloss on your cheeks.

Curled locks
Another more dramatic ponytail trend is the slicked back low pony with curled hair. This style has been worn by the fabulous Beyonce and other stars, and will help you stand out from your friends.

Since this style is more intense, try to add some flair to your look by way of an extended or thicker version of the cat-eye. If you're really feeling bold, switch out your traditional black liner for a funkier electric blue or forest green variety.
