Makeup trends predicted for NYC Fashion Week

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is set to kick off in New York City on September 5 and the biggest names in the world of design will be on hand to sell their looks. Many A-list celebrities will also be spotted in the front rows of shows in order to pick out future red carpet looks and scope out the latest trends in terms of clothing and makeup.

The Huffington Post recently revealed the top cosmetic trends that will hit the runways this week, and it seems the looks are all about having fun and standing out.

Bold and beautiful

A trend that will be taking over this fall is pops of teal and electric blue makeup on the eyes. Models set to walk in the Anna Sui show are taking a tip from the 60s. The models are set to rock cobalt-blue cat eyes with tiny blue dots in the center of their lower lash lines.

Designer Prabal Gurung, who calls the gorgeous Zoe Saldana his best friend, went a step further with blue. His models will be rocking a daring bird-inspired look with the ladies wearing electric blue eyeshadow mixed in with bold peacock green for a totally standout style.

Stellar smoky eyes

The smoky eye style continues to impress both on the runways and in real life. However, how the models are wearing the trend these days is a bit wild and is only for the most daring of ladies to try. The news source reports models at the Marc Jacobs show will be decked out in heavy black eyeliner and eyeshadows on their entire top lids up to the brow lines. The makeup artists will then take it a step further by applying orange and green hues over the models' eyebrows - providing a pop of color in a very unexpected place.

Colored lashes

Another popular and more muted way designers are having their models stand out on the runway this season is with colored mascara. Designer Elie Saab decided to go this route and have his models looking polished and ultra ladylike with false lashes that were then covered with pink eyeshadow. Models at the Stella McCartney show previously dazzled in a similar trend. The lovely ladies rocking the red carpet had false lashes and a vibrant lavender eyeshadow mixed in for a subtle pop of color.
