Mixed-metallic smoky eyes rule the red carpet
Mixed-metallic smoky eyes were all the rage on the red carpet and the after parties following the 2012 Academy Awards. This stellar look is perfect for prom or even that big first date.
Glamour Magazine reports the two celebs who got this look right were the stunning Heidi Klum and the adorable Olivia Wilde.
Klum accented her bold yellow mini-dress with white gold metallic eyeshadow on her upper lids and a "peachy-yellow gold" hue on her lower lids. Although the colors were similar, the subtle changes helped to really focus the attention on her big hazel eyes. The experts at the magazine report that mixing metals and neutrals is almost fool-proof, but ladies are advised to try and work with shades that they know look good with their complexion.
Wilde chose to use copper and gold metallic hues to create a bold and sassy smoky eye. The lovely actress played up her baby blues by applying a shimmering copper eyeshadow on her upper lids and a golden hue underneath. She used even more metal in her look by rimming her upper and lower lids with a steel gray eyeliner. Wilde rocked a pale peach lip color and a stunning gold choker necklace to complete her ensemble. InStyle Magazine reports that Katie Holmes has been seen rocking a similar trend using shimmering gray and metallic blue eyeshadow.
