Stars try their hands at punk at the Met Gala
The annual Met Gala took place in New York City May 6 and the who's who of Hollywood were in attendance to show off their most originally ensembles. This year's theme was punk music and how it relates to fashion. Despite a few flops - we're talking to you January Jones, Beyonce and Nicki Minaj - many A-list celebs turned up the heat with their fashion and their makeup trends. Our top picks for the night include the gorgeous Kate Bosworth, wild child Miley Cyrus and actress Anne Hathaway.
Even though many eyes were likely on Bosworth's bold and bright frock, her stunning makeup was also worth talking about. The actress enhanced her naturally full pout wearing a peachy-orange lipstick in a matte finish and accentuated her ultra-high cheekbones with a touch of peach-toned blush. It seems like she swiped on an illuminating product as well to give off a golden glow.
The true star of her style was her gorgeous two-toned eyes. The actress applied dark eyeshadow on her top lids and followed up with thick black liner on her top and bottom lids, pushing the product out past her brow lines for a dramatic smokey eye. Bosworth added a touch of cream shadow at her inner corners to help brighten the look up slightly.
Cyrus kept with the theme perfectly with her sky-high hair - she opted to spike up her short blonde-due, helping her look like she just got off stage at the famous CBGB club. The singer, who recently released a hit single with Snoop Lion, continued to rep punk music with her bold makeup choices.
The young starlet accentuated her perfect pout wearing a true red lipstick shade in a matte finish. She kept her cheeks simple, adding a touch of product to even out her skin and enhanced her big blue peepers. Cyrus rocked light gray and silver shadow on her top lids, before adding a thin layer of black liner, winging it out slightly past her brow lines.
Hathaway surprised everyone with her lighter look, which she styled in a slicked back updo. The hairstyle worked well with her bold dress that boasted a turtleneck neckline, long sleeves with feathered cuffs and side-slits. Since the frock was so dramatic, the actress played it a bit simpler with her makeup. Hathaway opted for a nude lip and cheek combo with black eyeliner and shimmering silver shadow on her brown doe eyes.
