'Wu'd' by Jason Wu's makeup ideas for fall
Designer Jason Wu may be best known for his creative eye for fashionable clothing, but the models sporting his fall 2012 trends at New York Fashion Week have been showing that he has skill in makeup palette design as well.
Wu's fall line is inspired by a number of things - he told The Associated Press that Chinese military uniforms and glamourized traditional Chinese dress in 1930s and '40s Hollywood were serious influences. He added that the common thread among all elements of his line is strength.
Makeup enthusiasts saw this no more obviously than in his models' eyeshadow palettes during the show. Glamour Magazine reports that while his spring collection featured natural eye makeup and bold lips, his fall looks included smoky emerald eyeshadow and neutral lip color.
To copy this wearable look, start by applying your normal base, concealer or powder, then apply a pearly blue-green eyeliner to the lashline before smudging it up to the crease, Glamour reports. Then, swipe a gray eyeshadow over the lids, adding dimension to the crease and outer corners.
Finish by adding a sapphire eyeliner to the lashline, volumizing mascara and a touch of bright pink blush to the apples of your cheeks.
