may How to achieve a soft smokey eye The smokey eye has long been synonymous with dark, heavy eye makeup and although this still rings true, some celebrities have been transitioning to the lighter side of the smokey eye. InStyle Magazine reports the funny and gorgeous Leslie Mann has been seen rocking the light smokey eye and ladies everywhere should take notice. Mann's makeup artist, Melanie Inglessis, told the magazine the actress enjoys a simple look, so this updated smokey eye works effortlessly with her personal style. To achieve a similar, more subdued version of the classic smokey eye, start by defining your eyes using a thick layer of dark eyeliner and then winging it out past the brow lines using a blending brush. Next, apply a layer of lavender purple eyeshadow on the lids and blend it slightly over the bold eyeliner line. Smooth more of the hue at the outer corner of the eyes to create depth and then finish the style off with eyelash elongating mascara. Although this style is less dramatic, you'll still want to keep the rest of your cosmetics minimal. A touch of sun-kissed bronzer on your cheeks and a light pink lip color should be perfect. Glamour Magazine suggests ladies who want to lighten up even more might want to try using colored eyeliner instead of traditional black.
