Summer is all about wearing bright, juicy colors, but sometimes the old standbys are the ones that draw the most attention. Glamour Magazine reports that mauve and taupe are two shades in your lip palette that are subtle, but can still be super sassy.

Mauve is the perfect spring and summer lip color to wear when you don't necessarily want to make a statement with your lips. This dusty pink-purple shade of lipstick looks great on almost all skin tones, and will accentuate a nice summer glow well, too. Pick a matching shade from your blush palette and you're good to go.

Another underrated shade is taupe. You might find this beigey-pink color in your mom's makeup bag, but there is a time and a place when it is totally appropriate for you, too. Because it is close to your natural lip shade, it can be worn to work or class, but a shimmery lip gloss version is perfect for a night out, too. Wear this color with bronze and gold eyeshadow or use it to balance a bold smokey eye.
