The dryness and cold of winter can be hard on hair and skin, but it can be one of the best times to try out new styles, colors and makeup palettes.

Glamour Magazine recommends looking to certain celebrities for tricks on how to keep up with this winter's trends. Taylor Swift's recent switch to a perfectly straight blowout with bangs might encourage you to switch up your hair care regime for a day - go straight if you usually rock curls, or let out your hair's natural texture if you usually use a flat iron. In addition, don't be sad that your summer highlights are growing out - ombré, a type of dip-dye look, is in this season.

Winter makeup can seem blah, but without the issue of humidity, you can do more outside your usual makeup palette. Try Blake Lively's trick of adding mascara to your lower lashes for added drama, or Lauren Conrad's adventurous lip color options. The plum lipstick she recently donned was seasonal and not too "goth" looking thanks to her golden pink-peach blush.
