Key to the smokey eye: Makeup brushes
If you've ever tried to smudge your black eye makeup for that just-smokey-enough look, you know how easy it is to look like a raccoon instead of a trendsetter. How do the makeup artists do it? According to Glamour Magazine, the secret weapon is makeup brushes.
Glamour reports that makeup artists used a blending brush to get the models' eye makeup to look just right at the Iceberg A/W12 runway show in Milan last week. They channeled 1960's rock 'n' roll icons like Mick Jagger and Keith Richards while still looking elegant.
To achieve this look on your peepers, start by lining your the entire eye with black eye pencil. A neutral bronze and graphite eye makeup palette will give your eyes a smoldering look, but it's all about the brush when it comes to the smokey aspect. Using the blending brush, smudge the eyeliner along the bottom lash line, spreading the color past the outer corner of your eye. Use eyeshadow in shimmery hues like champagne to warm up the inner corners so your look isn't confused with tired eyes.
