Whether you're a fan of old school rock 'n' roll like The Rolling Stones or new rockers like The Hold Steady, what can't be denied is how utterly cool rock 'n' roll-inspired makeup is. There are tons of ways to wear this trend, and they don't all involve raccoon eyes. Start experimenting with these unique ideas:
If you want to display just a hint of your inner rocker, gray eyeliner is the way to go. Naya Rivera stunned with this gun metal look at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards in Brooklyn. You can recreate her makeup by painting on a smoky eye and following it up with a shimmery gray or silver eyeliner around your top and bottom lashes. Sport some fake eyelashes to really make your peepers pop.
Contrary to what you may think, rock 'n' rollers manage to get outside during the daytime too. For a Joan Jett-inspired look that you can wear to school, pair glossy nude lips and beige blush with darker eyeshadow. Apply black eyeliner at the base of your lash line, blending gray shadow up to the crease. Dab a bit of gold shadow near your tear ducts to brighten up your eyes and tone down the look for daytime.
A full-out rock 'n' roll look is a bit darker than a traditional smoky eye. After moisturizing your face, apply a matte black shadow on your lids. Follow it up with light feathery strokes of shimmery white shadow from your tear ducts to the middle of your lid. Then, use a fine eyeliner brush to apply more black around your upper and lower lash lines. Swipe on a few layers of black mascara to finish off the look.
