When you think "Marilyn Monroe" red lipstick and va-va-va-voom hair may come to mind, but the legendary Hollywood starlet also had a foolproof daytime look that was both classic and chic. Disney channel actress Peyton List has mastered this retro look and can offer a few tips:
Monroe had an ethereal glow, and List channels it in this gorgeous daytime look. Use a tinted moisturizer or BB cream that's a shade lighter than your skin - too much makeup will detract from the natural luminosity of your complexion. To add to the glow, use a touch of well-placed highlighter.
Instead of using a brightly colored eyeshadow, keep it simple (just a touch of gold or shimmery taupe) and focus on the eyeliner. Monroe favored the cat-eye effect, but you can keep it a bit more simple like List did at the Empire State Building.
To pull-off retro makeup in the daytime, keep your lips light. Instead of gloss, use a stain that has a more matte effect but a sheer formula. Coral and peach are great colors for the summer! Make sure your lips are well-moisturized before applying the stain, or it will appear uneven.
