Professional and amateur makeup artists and enthusiasts will flock to the International Make-Up Artists Trade Show (IMATS) in Los Angeles June 22 to 24. The show, which will also travel to Vancouver, Sydney, Toronto, London and New York, will feature a number of renowned artists and makeup companies.
Rick Baker, a seven-time Oscar-winning makeup artist, and Kabuki, an elite beauty artist, will be headlining the show. Baker is best known for his work as a special effects makeup artist, with films such as Men in Black, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, The Wolfman and Norbit under his belt.
Kabuki has worked on a number of celebrities such as Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Michael Jackson. His work has also graced the covers of Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Elle and other beauty magazines, and has been seen on TV shows such as Sex and the City and on the runways of many high-fashion designers like Zac Posen and Jason Wu.
In addition to these impressive artists, IMATS will have special events and features for visitors. Makeup enthusiasts may enjoy watching a student competition called "Battle of the Brushes." In this competition, cosmetology students will race to create a winning look to fit this year's Men in Black theme.
Visitors can check out the Make-up Museum to see a display of makeup effects, sculptures and animatronics from some of the most well-known films internationally. Other exhibitors will offer demos and discounts at their booths. In particular, BH will be offering 50 percent off all of its professional makeup palettes.
