Stars shine at Do Something awards

The Do Something awards certainly invoked a feeling of "doing something to show off" last night, as many of the hottest young celebrities hit the red carpet hoping to impress. The awards, which are held to celebrate people who make a difference through their various charitable endeavors, brought out a lot of young Hollywood.

Lea Michele has been trying to shed the good girl image she developed through her role as Rachel Barry on "Glee," and she tried once again last night. Michele worked it on the red carpet with on- and off-screen love interest Cory Monteith.

The actress has been favoring cleavage baring dresses and last night's event was no different. Michele donned a gray, ruffled mullet-style dress, which showed off her enviable legs and chest. The ruffles accented the neckline and hem of the dress, giving it an ethereal feel. Michele knew to keep the rest of her outfit in a similar color, choosing gray strappy sandals and a clutch. Her accessories were minimal except for her drop earrings that stood out behind her loose waves.

Michele's hair and makeup were also on-point with the whole look. This made her eyes the star of the show, rimming them with black eyeliner for a cat eye. However, she added some metallic eyeshadow in the inner creases of the eye, really making them pop. The metallic eyeshadow extended further on her lids, but was hidden behind Michele's big, long lashes. It looked as though the actress used an eyelash curler and volumizing mascara to give her lashes a boost. Michele kept the rest of her makeup simple, forgoing any lip stick and applying just enough blush to make the apples of her cheeks stand out.

Also looking lovely at the event was Twilight star Nikki Reed. The actress went for a more modest approach, choosing a drapey taupe floor-length gown that had a knee-high slit. While some people may have gotten lost in the flowy fabric, Reed was smart in cinching it with a blue belt at her waist. She kept her accessories simple with a metallic clutch and sandals.

Reed also perfected the effortless look. With her hair in a middle part, the actress wore a low bun, with her bangs and other pieces flowing freely. Although it was hard to tell from a distance, Reed's eye makeup was beautiful up close. Keeping with the purple trend, the actress rimmed her eyes in purple eyeshadow, going out a bit past her creases. It also appeared as though there was some light pink eyeshadow blended in at the inner corners of the eye, giving a warming effect. Unlike Michele, Reed also chose to wear a light pink lipstick with a lipgloss finish for an extra touch of femininity.

Aubrey Plaza decided to let her lips do the talking, as she chose a hot pink lip stick with a lipgloss finish. This contrasted with her blue cut-out dress, but it worked for all the right reasons. Knowing all attention would be on the lower part of her face, Plaza kept her eye makeup simple. Using a mauve eyeliner to rim her lower lids, Plaza also added some light mauve eyeshadow to the bottom. On top, the "Parks and Recreation" star used a thin line of black eyeliner and some hot orange eyeshadow. Although the shadow was a bright color, Plaza made sure not to extend it too far past her eyelid to keep it subtle.
