Which spring makeup trends will flatter you best?

As we thank our stars that spring is almost here, we are stocking up on the cosmetics that are going to make us feel as light and sunny as a perfect May day. But which will work best on you? Allure Magazine highlights some of the best ones to add to your collection.

We have always been excited about red lips, but this spring's lip color adds a new aspect that makes them even better - shine. Forget the classic matte lipstick, this season you can freshen up with an opaque, non-glossy red lip gloss. This look is super wearable because it is easier to apply than lipstick. However, for best results you should line your lips with pencil to prevent bleeding, Allure recommends. Harper's Bazaar reports that shades ranging from vermilion to a classic scarlet are going to lead the way this season.

Purple eyeshadow is another extra-flattering spring trend. This orchid-color hue has a pleasant pink undertone that will make your eyes look as exciting as the first spring crocus. Allure recommends choosing products with a satin finish and lining the top eyelid with thin black pencil.

Cornflower blue is also going to be all the rage this season. Forget about your mom's frosty blue shadow from the '80s - this stuff is a deeper cobalt with violet undertones. It's bright, and can be worn sheer or opaque, depending how much you use. The magazine recommends layering on lots of mascara and trying blue eyeliner if the shadow is too much.
