Metallic eyeshadow was a perfect way to ring in the new year, but to keep rocking this trend through the new year, try out the burnished metals look that celebrities such as Scarlett Johansson have been sporting.
According to Allure Magazine, hues like antique gold, toasted bronze and reddish copper create a perfectly understated yet fiery look. Johansson's makeup artist, Gianpaolo Ceciliato, told the news source that for the 2011 Oscars, the star rocked warm orangey-bronze hues that accented her wine-colored dress without being too matchy-matchy.
"For the Oscars, we didn't want her eye makeup to match the dress," Ceciliato told the news outlet. "The reddish bronze shadows make her green eyes stand out."
To achieve this smoldering look, prep your eyelids with a thin layer of concealer to prevent the eyeshadow from smudging or creasing. Cream shadow may be easier to apply than a powder eyeshadow palette, since they can be easier to remove if you make a mistake.
Try burnished metals on your nails, lips and face, too, the news outlet reports. Bronzer and certain blushes can add a warm hue to your skin, and shimmery lips can be totally glamorous.
