Face Makeup Tricks & How-To's (285)
Jump into fall with the right makeup

Nothing says it's fall like cool, crisp weather, sweaters and fabulous boots. If you're ready to trade in your sundresses, sandals and fedoras for fresh new autumn-wear, you should also learn what will be trendy in terms of makeup. Luckily, the fashionistas at Elle Magazine recently broke down exactly what will be hot for fall and winter this year.

Gray smoke

Forget traditional smoky eye styles this fall and instead get to know the softer side of gray. Perhaps this trend started due to the risque novel "50 Shades of Gray," or maybe it came about because fashionistas everywhere are done with looking so dark. For this style, you'll need to start by picking up an eyeshadow product with a few shades of gray to test out which one you like best. You should also purchase a lilac-toned eyeshadow to help soften and complement the sassy gray.

When you have the products together, start the transformation by first applying a primer on your lids to help hold the color better. After about one to two minutes, begin swiping on the gray hue from the lash lines and up to the crease lines. Apply the softer purple color in a triangle style with the base starting in the middle of your top lid and pushing it out a touch past the brow lines. On the bottom, refrain from using eyeliner and instead swipe a thin line of the gray product under the lash lines for a stunning effect. Pair the sultry look with a deep red or berry lipstick if you're going on a fancy date, or use a more subtle pink hue if you're wearing the style to work.

Rosy pink cheeks

There is perhaps nothing better than pairing pale, winter skin with a pop of girlie pink blush. The color not only adds life to the otherwise bland canvas, but also makes it seem like you were outside embracing the cool air.

To achieve the lovely look, first find a cream blush in a true pink hue. Start by applying your natural foundation on your face to hide any blemishes or imperfections, the news source reports. From here, begin applying the cream-based blush on the apples of your cheeks and spread it out upward toward your temples. This will help make it seem more natural and beautiful. Since you're going for fresh and modern with this style, it's best to keep the rest of your cosmetics on the same page. A touch of darker pink lipstick on your pout and neutral eyeshadow shades on your lids is sure to look perfect and understated everytime.

Bold and beautiful

Ladies looking to live it up with color don't need to fall into a depression due to the changing weather. In fact it can actually be the perfect time to try out some jewel-toned makeup, the publication reports. Models at the Roberto Cavalli show were seen rocking an ode to the peacock using metallic jewel-toned colors like green and purple and fashionistas everywhere need to give this style a try.

To begin, dust brown eyeshadow on your entire lid, applying a bit more on the outer two-thirds of your lids. Then swipe the metallic purple hue on the inner one-third of your lids - all the way to the inner corners. After the purple is just right, begin placing the emerald green hue onto the center of your lids, going all the way up to your brow lines, then use a blending brush to mix in the purple and brown hues with the green.

Create definition by dabbing more of the brown hue around the outer edge and then use the color to rim the lower lash lines as well. Add even more metallic by way of shimmering gold eyeshadow on top of the purple color at the inner corners. Finish the style off with a thin line of black eyeliner on your top and bottom lids and tons of mascara.
