At the 2011 Soul Train Awards, Gladys Knight was chosen as one of the two recipients of the 2011 Legend Award. Natalie Cole presented the award, but first performed her rendition of Gladys' song, "You're the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me," The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Cole was stunning with long, curled locks draped over her bare shoulders, a glowing complexion, and classy, subtle-yet-shimmering eyeshadow. Her floor-length, strapless gown - a dark brown and light copper striped affair, teetered dangerously close to the edge of being a bit too busy, but the singer pulled the look off naturally as she crooned one of Gladys' hits.
"I have received awards over the years...but this one here is the closest to my heart because it comes from my people," Knight said in her acceptance speech, according to the news source. "Only you know what roads we have to travel to get anywhere."
After her touching speech, Knight went on to perform a duet with famed gospel singer BeBe Winans, much to the delight of their audience.
