Ring in spring with celeb approved bright cosmetics

Spring is almost here and you know what that means ladies - it's time to put away those drab sweaters and heavy cosmetics in exchange for light, flirty dresses and bold, bright makeup. InStyle Magazine reports many stars in Hollywood have already started to use bright hues on their lips, cheeks and eyes, meaning you get an inside peek into what is going to be big in just a few weeks.

We can't emphasize it enough - orange is the "it" color of spring and summer. Leading ladies like Charlize Theron, Kourtney Kardashian and Chloe Sevigny have all been seen out rocking the color in shades of girly peach and all the way up to bright tangerine.

Glamour Magazine reports that Kardashian played up this color right by keeping her outfit and the rest of her cosmetics simple - allowing for the orange lip color to truly stand out.

InStyle Magazine also suggests that ladies looking to rock this bold trend should wear complimenting colors. For example, while Theron was wearing red lipstick with tangerine undertones at the BAFTA Tea Party in Los Angeles, she opted to wear a pale yellow gown, which gave off a spring vibe and kept with her makeup. Makeup artist Pati Dubroff also recommended that women use warm tones on the rest of their face.

"Keep eyeshadows in warm hues like gold or copper, and give skin a quick sweep of peach blush or bronzer to create a glow," Dubroff told the publication.

Another bright look to try out this spring is plenty of blue eyeshadow. Stars like Rooney Mara have been seen wearing this style and it is certainly a show-stopper. To get Mara's look, start by rimming your upper and lower lids with navy eyeliner using a fine eyeliner brush. Next, apply a dusty blue hue using makeup brushes and sweep the color from the inner corner of the upper lid and out a bit passed the eyebrow line, extending the color and creating major drama. Add the same color on the bottom lids to give off a glowing vibe.

Because you'll want the focus to be on your eyes, it's best to keep all other cosmetics to a minimum. A touch of pale pink blush on your cheeks and a nude or light pink lip gloss is all that's needed.

Hot pink and fuchsia lips are also making a splash this season and celebs like Glee's Naya Rivera and Blake Lively have been seen all over town in these sassy shades, The Daily Mail reports. Although you can try this style now, the shades might look better when you have a tan and when you don't have chapped lips.

"The key to pulling off any bold lip color is to begin with smooth, conditioned lips, then mute out the natural color," makeup artist Jo Baker told InStyle Magazine. "Use an almost dry swipe of foundation from either a brush or sponge, and dab onto the lip. This will give you a neutral starting point."

You can also ensure your lipstick stays put by applying lip primer before the bold shade.

Pastels are also making a comeback in spring, especially when lovely leading ladies like Emma Stone are seen wearing them. Most recently Stone rocked sassy pastel pink eyeshadow while attending the Academy Awards. Makeup artist Rachel Goodwin, who created Stone's red carpet look, said using pastels can easily go wrong without the proper precautions.

"Pink eye shadows on their own tend to make eyes look sickly," Goodwin told the magazine.

To avoid this, you need to accentuate the sweet shade by going heavy on the eyeliner. Goodwin opted to create a cat eye look for Stone - using jet black liquid liner on the top lids and winging it out past the brow line using a flat liner brush.

Other fresh springtime looks include using golds from the eyes to the mouth and rocking brown or fun colored eyeliner in replace of dark black.
