Most of the time, Serena Williams sticks to tennis shoes and athletic looks, which makes sense for the professional tennis player. However, last night she revealed a more feminine side on the red carpet of the 25th annual Footwear News Achievement Awards in New York City.
Williams donned a curve-hugging red dress and accentuated it with gold heels and accessories. Taletela reports that this is a vast improvement from her often-mismatched red carpet outfits. She wore her hair down - the shiny ringlets framed her face nicely - and her makeup was subdued so it didn't have to compete with the bold red dress. Williams wore a dark, smoky eyeshadow and a light rosy lip color, and she looked completely at ease on the red carpet.
Perhaps her confidence was due to beating her sister, Venus, at an exhibition match in Columbia last week. USA Today reports that Serena is currently in the lead 13 to 10 in a running tally of competitive games between the siblings, not including the exhibition match.
