How often do you wash your makeup brushes? Weekly, monthly… can’t remember? It’s ok, it happens to the best of us. Between on-the-go makeup looks and getting the perfect glam look that took you forever, our precious brushes can start to take a toll. Other than embarrassingly dirty bristles, our brushes can carry bacteria bringing us unwanted breakouts. The bristles in our brushes are porous, so they absorb and hold onto oil and any debris around them, resulting in a not-so-cute makeup application. While having product build-up on bristles can make it even more difficult to achieve a flawless finish. With all of this worry now… what’s the best way to clean and care for them? No need to worry though, we’ve got the best ways to clean and care for your makeup brushes so they can last!
Scrub a Dub-Dub!
For best brush care, try to give your brushes a thorough cleaning once a week, or every other week MAX. There’s no need to wash them every day or every other day, this will actually do the bristles more harm than good. Follow these 5 easy steps for refreshingly clean brushes.
Holding the brush with the bristles pointing down is the best. The glue holding the bristles together at the ferrule can become loose and start to shed. Keeping water and soaps out of the base will help this to not happen.
Wet the brush with lukewarm water.
Using our Studio Pro Dual Cleansing Brush Pad, add a few drops of cleanser to the textured ridges and swirl brush bristles until clean. For cleansers, we recommend the Liquid Blender Cleanser from @beautyblender. The cleanser softly conditions bristles while effectively removing any product build-up. It’s also paraben, phthalate, and sulfate free. DIY: Another effective product is baby shampoo, it’s great for sensitive skin, and cleans the bristles very well.

Rinse off bristles and squeeze out extra moisture.
Reshape the brush and let the bristles dry horizontally, hanging off the edge of the counter so it fully dries.
